jinx's BBQ

Last wednesday i went to jinx's house for the movie marathon. However, we ended up playing guitar hero, captains ball and truth or dare instead. My dad may have banned guitar hero but i'm still playing it at my friends house! HAH. I think ernest and ian were really good for first timers but that's cos they're guitarists. After that we watched Juno which was just as good as i expected it to be. I hated the part when she was dancing with the guy who was going to adopt her baby. I was thinking "ewww noooo! What if his wife comes in?!" Other than that, it was a refreshingly light-hearted movie. Not too dramatic for the teenage pregnancy topic and i really like juno's character cause she's so hilariously blunt.

Then we played captains ball in the "field". Can't rmb who won but i think my team was pretty good considering the fact that all the girls were on my team (and ian and ernest. plus, ernest was slightly tipsy!). The bbq after had really good cheese sausages and then ernest and sarah made me drink coke+vodka which tasted quite good.

Then the part which i dreaded the most. Truth or dare. Seriously, dares are so mindless and they're not THAT fun to watch. Who came up with the dare for juns to jump in the pool?! NOT VERY DARING AT ALL. I had to do so many dares cos i made so many mistakes. Anyway, i think the easiest dare was sarah's. She was SUPPOSED to hold her head in the fish tank for 15 seconds but she did it in the pool instead. Oh yeah and i remember when ian was supposed to smell ernest's feet, ernest squashed his foot into his face hahaha. I admit that one was fun to watch!
Lucky jing xi and jose didn't have to do anything humiliating.

After getting up from the pool, we made BANANA NUTELLA PANCAKES! haha i think i've been obsessing over them since after Krabi.

Here's the batter we made from scratch with Ian or Jose using my mixing-machine-inspired mixing method.

Eskor and ian and i had an argument about how the pancake batter was supposed to be stirred. Ian and i insisted that the batter was supposed to be beaten to make the pancakes fluffy. But Eskor was like "what you're doing is putting air in the batter!!" And ian went "THAT'S THE POINT!" haha here's eskor looking utterly dismayed at ian's batter beating. haha poor eskor!

The first few nicely burnt pancakes.

Ian showing off his pancake flipping skills :P

And finally...our pretty pancakes that i smeared nutella on and arranged banana slices on. haha not the same as the ones in Thailand, but an extremely good substitute!

KT Tunstall concert!

2 nights ago juns, me, zhen he and brendan went for the kt tunstall concert. We saw miss maughn there with her fiance and her brother but sadly, she didn't recognize us (i think). Zhen he and i went to say hi and then she gave us this i-dont-know-you-but-i'm-smiling-to-be-nice kind of smile. How embarrassing.

We sat behind her though, and we saw her clapping and bobbing enthusiastically along to the music, which isn't surprising cause she's just like that in class too (very hyper...for a teacher).

Anyway, the concert was really good and juns says her songs are much better live than when recorded. After almost every song she'd change her guitar. i think she had 4 guitars altogether. One acoustic and a really nice shiny electric one like the one in her Drastic Fantastic poster. My favourite song was her cover of Walk like an Egyptian by The Bangles. I wanna listen to it on repeat! During her encore she used this machine (called the wii bastard) where she records the sounds that she makes and then they play on repeat throughout the song so it provides the rhythm. She's the only singer i know who uses it during her concerts and its really fascinating to watch. Here's a video of it:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIO2qpSsUTA&feature=related

She was so fun during her concert. Near the end of it, she saw these people standing near the stage wearing "PLEASE MEET US" t-shirts and so she was like "i may not get a chance to meet you guys later because i may get abducted by aliens and i'll never see you again! So lets meet now!" Then she went up to the people and started talking to them! She's surprisingly down to earth for a celebrity.

She also told us a random fact that she said she gave out every concert. Singapore's random fact was that for every 10 people that have ever lived, one person is alive. So for every live person on earth now, there are 9 dead people. Yes, it is a VERY RANDOM fact, but interesting to know i guess.

I'm really glad i went to the concert. Even though now i wish we were standing in the mosh pit cause we would've been more hyper during her songs.

krabi update!

Just got back from swimming at sicc with jing xi and sarah! Sarah is so annoyingly fit. She swims so fast! haha jing xi and i were struggling to keep up. Jing xi is so lazy :P he only swam 10 laps. I did 15 and sarah did like 30 or something haha.

Then after that i had ice kachang but i only ate the third with the brown syrup. Sarah ate the rest! Then Sarah had to go home for dinner and Jing xi went to his friend's house.

Oh and i'm way to lazy to blog about krabi. I shall just copy and paste what jose wrote so i can remember what happened in krabi if i ever come back to look at my blog when i grow up.

JOSE'S VERSION OF EVENTS and the stuff in bold are added by me.

Jun's 17th birthday "party"
And Juns, I'm so sorry for a second reason. I totally forgot to talk about your b'day celebration. Well, Mary bought the cake in Singapore, keeping it a secret from Juns. Then on Day 1, she, Sarah, Berns and Jing Qing iced the cake and she kept it in me and Thiru's fridge. Well, it was supposed to be a secret. When Mary was bringing it to our dining place (a rather charming open-air sheltered verendah thingy), Thiru was supposed to stall Juns. Haha, too bad it wasn't successful. [Thiru is such a bad staller! sheesh. what kind of stalling is going "What?" to juns and then letting her come over to me?! Anyway, juns walked up to me and when she saw the cake she kind of stopped and her eyes grew very wide haha.] Juns just walked and saw Mary holding the cake. Mary tried to hide it, but how successful can one be at hiding a cake?

Well, Juns saw Mary holding it, and she had this strange smile on her face. We had dinner, had the cake (it was a fantastic chocolate cake with nutella icing [why, thank you. :P ]) and apparently I was the only one who was able to capture the moment on camera. So... Juns, here it is!
(go to his blog for the picture haha)
And then, Juns went and hugged Mary after the whole thing. Haha, through this trip, we've gotten to see everyone's really great side. Now.. Moving on to..

Day 2
We went mangrove planting in the morning. We had to go a school then went behind it to plant some mangroves. It smelt like eggs in the swamp. Still, we did learn about how the mangroves affected the coral down south. Interesting bio lesson. [yawn!] The school itself was interesting.
[i like this picture of the school. It makes the place look ALOT nicer then it really was. I think it's the sunlight and the trees.]

We took a one-hour long boat trip (no, we didn't kayak. If we did, some of us would still be in hospital right now) to the mainland where we got off to kayak. I also saw that the river we were to kayak up was very gentle. That relieved me. Too bad I don't have any pics of that event (I was terrified of dropping my camera while kayaking/getting it wet). [i brought my underwater camera! hope my dad develops the pictures soon]
Well, it was a very enjoyable ride. Except for the fact that since me and Mary were kayaking together, SOME PEOPLE decided to compose a song. [Seriously, WHO started the song? I'm going to kill that person!!] I shall not elaborate further. That information you shall have to find out yourself. Still, I really grew quite fond of kayaking (except for the tiredness factor) and I don't mind doing it again sometime.

Talking about kayaking the day before when i was with Tanya and he was paddling alone: The way back, as I said, was more mental than anything, and I had to be guided back on path by a laughing Mary and Tanya."

[Yeah jose wasn't looking where he was going and he started kayaking to the left instead of straight forward. So Tanya and i were staring at him going the wrong way, wondering what he was doing until i finally shouted to him. i think he was sleeping hahaha.]

When we were kayaking back to the pier, this sandbar was exposed by the low tide and many of us got stuck in it. Me and Mary had to get out and push the kayak along for a while before being able to paddle away. This was made more difficult by the current which was pushing us towards the sandbar. For a while I was afraid that we might be stuck there. Haha, good thing we got back safely.
Strangely enough, me and Mary seemed to be one of the slower kayakers. Lol, need practice...
Fine, we did actually become first at one point, then we had to lag behind again, but our pace was kinda leisurely, you have to admit that, Mary. Right? =)

[Yeah we soo could've gone faster if we wanted to okay. But some people were blocking the way! haha i'm so egoistic!]

Thanks for letting me use your blog jose!

combat

Today jing xi and i did combat yoga. It was so tiring, its a combination of karate, kick boxing and something else i cant remember. There were really cool moves like roundhouse kicks and punches. I sweated alot but then but then i gained back all the calories with the cookies and milo i had later! pfft. wasted work out. Then we went back to jing xi's house to do our chinese homework and i managed to write up to Day 4 of our Krabi trip before i got bored with all the translating. People are stealing my Krabi pictures for their projects! haha but i dont mind.

Anyway after that Sarah came over and we went for dinner with jing xi's family at this really good Thai restaurant at Funan. We had Phad Thai and mango sticky rice again! And jing xi piled so much rice on my plate...i can't believe i finished it. :( siiigh. i need to swim more.

Here's me, sarah and gabz at siloso beach yesterday.

my sisters

Here's some pictures of my sisters that someone (whose name i'm not allowed to type :P) asked me to post. The youngest 2 are twins (Claire and Claudia) and the second oldest one is in sec 2 (Stefanie).

Here's us in Barcelona

And here are some funny pics of the twins!
Here's Claire....

and Claudia who looks really surprised here haha.

I have no idea whether they're identical or fraternal. I think they're identical though. Cos they kinda look the same. Anyway, it's their 12th birthday today and they're having a mass sleepover with their friends who are all very giggly. It makes me wanna have a sleepover too. But my mum refuses to allow boys to sleepover cos she says its inappropriate. oh well.

yoga is so relaxing

This morning is the beginning of my lose weight plan. I went for a yoga class with jing xi and sarah this morning and after that my legs felt all light. (because yoga "massages all your internal organs"). But i cramped my foot while sitting on it which hurt for a while. i need to go for a foot massage. damn i miss krabi and its cheap massages. Here's me getting my 200 baht massage in Phuket :P

After yoga we went to jing xi's house and watched The Kingdom. Sarah fell asleep through it but i thought the ending was really cool and foreboding. We also played this car game and jing xi showed off by winning the car race using one foot to steer haha. Then we met up with ian, jose and ricardo to rock climb. Rock climbing is so exhausting.

At 3.30, jose, ian, sarah and i left to watch Horton with amanda, juns and zhen he. Horton isn't as funny as everyone says. And guess what? sarah fell asleep AGAIN during the movie. haha poor sarah.

Here's some of my various outings since we left krabi.

amanda's birthday!

Today was so fun :P After sarah and i slept over at juns hse, we went to holland village for brunch. On our way to crystal jade we were talking about how we were going to cut our hair, then this guy in a toni and guy shirt stopped us and asked us if we wanted free haircuts. haha cool right? So i went for a trim but sarah and juns decided not to. (But juns decided to wash and blow dry cos eskor said she looked like a caveman with her poofy hair last night).

After i had 4 xiao long baos at crystal jade, we went back to juns house and had the best 2hr long nap ever. At night i met up with amanda, eskor, juns, sarah, ian, wei jin and jing xi at Pete's Place for amanda's birthday dinner. I had lasagne al forno which tasted soo good. i have no idea why wei jin didnt like it. Then we went to watch The Spiderwick Chronicles which really surpassed my expectations because i thought it was a kiddy movie. It was so scary at some parts. Especially when the snake came so close to killing the boy. haha i didnt expect a kid's movie to be so suspenseful. Overall, it was an okay movie. Not especially good or bad. I'd rate it a 6/10.

Krabi pics (including Ian this time)

These are the rest of the nicer pictures. I can't be bothered to upload the rest haha. You guys can get them when the slideshow of ALL the photos is made :)

Ernest's spiky hair (no gel used)

That's jose!

Juns, looking extremely tai tai here with her sunglasses and hair. haha just jking juns :P

here's Ian trying to pull off the "cool" look :P He looks like he just found something fascinating in the sky hahaha.

Beach photos! (EXCLUDING IAN)

There are so many beaches in Krabi. It's impossible for me to remember how many we went to. I'll just post all the beach pictures for people to take.

Awwwwwwww.

haha i love this one of gabby! he looks so "This is me. On a rock."
