HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY ESKOR!

I couldn't find a nice picture of eskor! Anyway, that's us making our famous banana nutella pancakes for the first time.

After school we had choir practice for the performance. Then we had to go for mass where we sang Be Thou My Vision. I missed the first part cos i had to go return savvy's tie :( Then i fell asleep halfway during mass haha. I hope nobody saw!

By this time i was STARVING because no dinner was provided so jing qing, chris and i went to paragon to eat. When we finally got there jing qing asked "do you know how to get back?". And i, having no sense of direction, went "um...nooo..." . We both thought each other knew! Luckily rachel told us how to get back. We were still really late though. We managed to sprint up to the glass hall just in the nick of time. I'm soo glad we didn't miss our chance to sing Bohemian Rhapsody! It's so fun to sing :) I think we sing better in front of an audience. Everyone sings louder and nobody's voice collapses halfway (like during practice). But sometimes during practice i get distracted by the basses or the sopranos then i end up singing their lines instead. Anyway, our audience was very appreciative. We got an encore! Then the guests told us we could go and eat because there was still some left over. The phad thai was goood. i miss thai food now :(

Anyway, at about 8.30, we all left to watch iron man! It wasn't as good as i expected (i fell asleep at some parts, haha then i found out jose did too) but its one of the best i've seen this year. Then we ate a bit at BK and i left with juns, chris and zhen.

The Importance of Being Ernest.

HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY ERNEST! aka Mr. Wang

Today after school we had no service (yay SAVH!) so a bunch of us went to pizza hut for Ernest's birthday (of course RACHEL was there! OOOOoooh! hahah kidding :) ). I went early with juns, sarah, hilda and sid cos juns' driver came. We wanted to get Ben & Jerry's but the queue took up the entire level so we were thinking "NO waay". I can't believe ernest wanted us to queue for him first. We didn't in the end, obviously haha.

Then we met up with jose, sam, ernest, rachel, suraj, andre and niko for lunch at pizza hut (which turned into an early dinner). I think i'd have preferred subway, but pizza hut had more space. Then sarah and juns left for rock climbing. And so we ended up telling each other sick jokes and getting weird stares from the girls at the next table haha. Too bad almost everyone else had service so they couldn't make it.

Math today was fun. Jose showed us this website called talkingcock.com. Here's the definition of an ah beng :)

AH BENG
An unsophisticated Chinese boy, usually Hokkien. Stereotypically, he speaks gutter hokkien and likes neon-coloured clothes, spiky, moussed hair and accessories such as handphones or pagers, all of which are conspicuously displayed. He also likes to squat, even when a seat is available.

A pet-name which literally means, "lotus flower". The female equivalent of an Ah Beng - an unsophisticated Chinese girl. Stereotypically dresses in neon colours, wears a huge ribbon perched on the top of her head, and carries a tiny basket.

HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY IAN! [aka mr. pot belly]

Last night after rock climbing, we met up at Dan Ryan's for Ian's birthday dinner. Sarah, berns, eskor and i went to sarah's house to shower and change so we ended up meeting everyone at 9 instead of 7.45. haha i feel so bad making everyone wait. (but thats cos eskor took so long to shower and berns and i had to find nice clothes that fit!)

Dan Ryan's is like a pub near Tanglin mall. I've always passed by it but i never actually ate there before. The

ambience was really nice but the food was only marginally good. I had lasagne which i think tastes better at Pepperoni's. Poor Ian couldn't taste any of his Baked Ziti cos of the tabasco shot.

At Dan Ryan's, sam had the fantastic idea to take tabasco shots. Ian, Jose, Eskor and Sam all took one shot and their reactions were priceless! For ONCE i'm glad jose brought his video camera!

The staff was so nice, they sang the birthday song for Ian and we got free balloons and key chains and a complementary molten chocolate cake. The funniest part was when everyone took the balloons and sucked in some helium to make their voices really high.

Then we walked to Wheelock place and some of us had coffee bean before i left with zhen, sam and wei jin. And again, we couldn't find any cabs who would stop for us cos it was already 11 something. stupid selfish taxi drivers.

stupid silent libraries.

Today Mrs Underwood scolded me for not having anything to do in the library. Jose, Zhen and i went to find eskor in the library and we were speaking really softly. Then Mrs Underwood walked up to us (really sneakily) and somehow zhen saw her and managed to escape. But by the time i realized, it was too late. So jose and i started to find the old TIMES magazines on the shelf really interesting and hoped mrs underwood wouldn't get all PC on us.  But she managed to catch us and went (with her constant worried expression) "Don't you have any hoomework to dooo, i mean, this is the IBeee programme... come on guys! They're just old copies of TIMES!" (jose was flipping through them with alot of concentration the whole time she was lecturing me). And eskor was just standing a few metres away trying very hard to stifle his giggles. When she finally stopped interrogating me about my HL subjects and watching hamlet to "expand my areas of knowledge", all of us brisk walked out and then we started laughing when we finally got out. 

Random thoughts

1. i don't care how many CAS points i get, i'm not going to anymore student initiated thingies.

2. i need to stop playing badminton. It's ruining my tennis.

3. i miss my laptop terribly. Esp. now  that sarah bought the exact same one and brought it to school.

4. I need to think of a strategy to stop all this double chin business.

5. SAVH rocks! no more cleaning drains and washing dishes and feeding old people! PLUS we end an hour earlier!

6. i need to find my dad's Queen cd.

FRIDAY AGAIN! :)

Today after school we went rock climbing but i went earlier to play badminton! i feel soo HEALTHY now, after all that badminton and pulling myself up rocks. For badminton, Jing xi tried (unsuccessfully) to teach me to smash, and for rock climbing, i learnt the sit-in method and did some more flagging. I love rock climbing now but i wish there was less people rock climbing and more people to belay me.

Then after that jing xi, juns, eskor and i went to crystal jade at holland v for dinner. Amazingly, it was eskor's first time at crystal jade. After frowning at all the strange chinese dishes (frogs legs, etc.), he chose to eat....wait for it....fried CHICKEN and RICE. How totally unexpected eskor!

It's SCARY how many mg girls we saw today when we went from holland v to lido. We must have seen at least 7 and they were all our close friends! In holland v, we saw vicky, cherilyn and krystal, then delia later on along the road. Then at lido we saw patty, bethy and jing who were watching the exact same movie as us - the hottie and the nottie. It's such a small world.

The hottie and the nottie starts off really cheesy at first, but the ending is really sweet. It's slightly too cliched though..something you would expect to come out of a hollywood film. And paris hilton is NOT hot at all, i think her best friend (the nottie) was waaay prettier after her makeover.

After the movie i went back home by cab. I was sooo exhausted and i felt all icky and sticky by then. The best thing about being a girl is that guys have to be gentlemanly and follow the ladies first rule. haha i got to take the first cab that actually bothered to stop for us :P i was soooo annoyed cos all the selfish, greedy, inconsiderate cab drivers refused to stop for us just cos it was close to midnight and they wanted to extort a higher fee. I hate it when that happens. Why can't we ever get nice, understanding cab drivers? huh?

Okay I am going to sleep now because today was SUCH a tiring day.

guitar hero ROCKS! literally.

Today after school, zhen, jing qing, sid and wei jin came over to play guitar hero and fooseball.

HAHA. Zhen is so funny. Here's a quote from his blog about today:

Some of you may not remember but the phrase "gambling like little lambs in the meadow" originated from Mr Bennet who used it to describe the boys who were acting rowdy before assembly. haha that is the strangest phrase i ever heard to describe rowdy boys.

Oh and i DO NOT live in a "castle". My house isnt that big zhen! (and what is with all the ZZZZs?!?!) About my bed, you guys were sweaty okay. i had every reason to not let u all sit on it. 

Anyway, jing qing turned out to be surprisingly good at guitar hero and this really depressed Zhen cos she was better than him on his first try. (yay i got another person addicted!) Then i played chess against him and i beat him, which made him even more distressed. hahahaha poor zhen. I think i'm gonna ask pple to play guitar hero at my house more often. Its so useful! they helped me unlock all the nice new songs so i have more of them to play :P

I'm such a GH3 addict. Here's me and juns playing at our friend's sleepover a few weeks ago. I can't wait to unlock cliffs of dover!

Manic Mondays...NOT.

Today was the MOST relaxed day ever. For chinese in the morning, all we did was try to learn how to tie some complicated chinese knot that sarah somehow managed to master really fast. Even the lesson was explained in english cause Ms Teo's class came in to join us (although i have no idea why).

After break, i had a free period then i was supposed to have econs but since Mr Maclehose wasn't in school, we didn't have a lesson. I ended up surfing facebook on juns's com. oh and BY THE WAY, if any of you see strange comments on your photos, ITS ALL GABRIEL. he used my account to comment!

Anyway, I went for choir practice for the first time during lunch today. I was really looking forward to it cos we would be learning Bohemian Rhapsody, which coincidentally i had just heard live last night at the We Will Rock You musical (which had GREAT song performances but the storyline was way too far-fetched.) For choir, Mr Venables just sings the notes and plays the piano and we follow. Then at the end, everyone puts all their sections together. It's surprisingly easy to piece everything together. 

AND THEN after lunch, Ian told me Mr Rainone wasn't in school either!! So for maths class, carmen and jose and i just chatted and did our maths at the same time. haha carmen and i discussed the pros and cons of dating in school and this prompted Jose to tell us that girl talk is really amusing. hahaha i suppose it is in a way, if it wasn't, life would be boring. 

I realize i didn't learn anything the entire day. Oh well :D

HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY JOSE!

haha okay i know this will generate some annoying ooohs but i like to congratulate my friends on their birthdays.

On tuesday i stayed back in school for 5 hrs with sarah and juns to watch the concert. The choir was really fantastic for a beginner choir (even though i still think mgs's choir is better haha). My favourite performances were the jazz band and the drama at the end, especially Mr underwood's version of Hound Dog and the enthusiastically violent acting of the younger students.

This thursday was the parent teacher meeting and my mum just HAD to see all my teachers. Most of them said i was quiet which was to be expected cos i kind of stone in class. Mr wong said my tok presentation wasn't very good cos i just read out from the slides but it wasn't my fault! The night before, i had a headache AND a chem test, so i couldn't prepare for the presentation. Therefore, i won't take mr wong's words to heart. The rest of my comments were alright i think.

Today I went rock climbing again for the first time since school started. I thought i was going to suck but then we learnt this new technique called flagging which is really useful. It totally revived my interest in rock climbing so i decided against quitting. But it took me 2 frigging hours to reach home after rock climbing. Buses are SO SLOW.

Ordering clothes online is amazingly addictive. I just got my hoodie from amerian apparel and now Zhen just showed me the cutest shirt ever (from american apparel). I'm so ordering it! http://www.bustedtees.com/airguitarhero

Here's the HUGE birthday cake we had!

I met Ian and Sam before the party to buy jose's present from HMV, then all of us took a really expensive cab ride to Chris's house.

At Chris's house, we all went downstairs to the basement where Chris was playing the drums. So ian and sam took out their electric guitars and they started playing as well. They didn't sound too bad actually. It was only later on when other people started playing random songs that the noise from the clashing instruments got too unbearable.

The first thing i did was play fooseball with Wei jin. Then we played against matthew and zhen and we won again :P (GO me and wei jin! HAH matthew and zhen!) i miss playing fooseball.

When the noise got too loud in the basement, i went up to eat chips and roti prata. (Tanya! why didn't you stop me?!)

Then we had dinner and carmen made me make BANANA NUTELLA PANCAKES straight after dinner cos she was leaving soon. So ian, zhen, eskor and i helped to make the batter while jose did a commentary of our cooking with his ANNOYING video camera (haha just kidding!). Some people thought our pancakes were "daamn good" (quoting from gabriel) but others, like juns, didn't like the pancake on its own. (pffft. they just have weird taste buds). I just realized that ian and i forgot to make jose his retarded "personal batter" with nutella mixed into the batter. oh well.

MASTER CHEFS!

After the pancakes, eskor did his hilarious impressions of some of our friends and the teachers (like mrs underwood and mr wong). Juns and i were laughing sooo hard. We also tried speaking singlish in a really ah beng way and i think i scared sam with my singlish hahaha.

At night, some of us went to play texas hold em' and the rest (including me) played Charade's which was surprisingly fun. I think guessing the names of famous people or characters are the most entertaining. I ended up leaving the house at midnight.

Pillowman

Last night was the most disturbing night of my life. We went to watch the pillowman and it was so horrifying yet amusing at the same time. Some times you can't help but laugh but at the same time you feel kind of bad laughing because the topic is so morbid. Like the part when the main character told his retarded brother that when he died he was going to a room in the middle of a forest where he would be tortured by his parents and he said "*gasp* that is the meanest thing anybody could say to another person!" I think it was the stories that the writer wrote(and that were carried out by his brother) that were the most sick-minded. haha i wouldn't have cared if Ariel had burned them in the end.

My cousins from australia were hogging the laptop just now. Here's some of the pics. haha they're so cute! This is alyssa. I just realised she deleted all the pictures that her sister was in. She's amazingly aggressive for her age. She kept pushing her poor older sis out of the frame! (you know, this REALLY reminds me of my own sister. )

Wednesday!

Today during english miss maughn told us that she actually DID recognize me and zhen at the KT Tunstall concert! She said she suddenly realized we were from her IB class after we turned away. And she smiled weirdly at us because she wasn't sure if we were waving to her or not cause there were so many people around, even though her brother kept insisting that we were waving at her. Then we talked about how good the concert was and she got embarrassed when she realized me and zhen saw her whole head bobbing act hahaha.

After school i went to novena with sarah to get her new glasses. haha she looks so "smart" now. After that we went back to her house to surf facebook and check the yoga website to see if we wanted to go for any yoga classes (which we didn't go for in the end). Nobody's online noww...i think they're all rock climbing with ian.
